Portland, Oregon – If you’re a Simpsons fanatic, then you know that the Springfield family lived in a city with a bevy of quirky characters. As the hometown of the series’ creator, Matt Groening, the inspiration behind such locations as Lincoln High School and such characters as Ned Flanders and Montgomery Burns can all be found in Portland, Oregon. Places like Montgomery Park and Burnside Street (Montgomery Burns), Flanders Street (Ned Flanders), Lovejoy Street (Reverend Lovejoy), and Kearney Street (Kearney Zzyzwicz), and many more all inspired the series. In fact, the cement outside of Lincoln High features Groening’s own sketch of Bart Simpson, along with a signature. Groening himself is a Lincoln High alum, so it’s no wonder he took such pride in his roots.:
